Pearl E. Hayes, 87, of Mt. Vernon, died 2:30 p.m. Nov. 6, 1993 at Country Side Manor in Mt. Vernon.

She was employed for many years at Casey Care Center in the nursing department.

She was born March 18, 1906, in Jefferson County, a daughter of William R. and Caroline (Johnson) Catron.

Sept. 23, 1923, in Mt. Vernon, she married William Fred Hayes, who died June 26, 1986.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hughey Funeral home with the Rev. Melvin Larson officiating. Burial will be in Old Shiloh Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Surviving are a daughter, Norma O'Daniel and husband, Sen. Bill O'Daniel, of Mt. Vernon; two sons, William Leroy Hayes and wife, Virginia, of Albany, Texas and Tommie Ray Hayes and wife, Marjorie, of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Malone of Courtland, and Irene Dulaney and husband, Vernon, of Belle Rive; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.
