Green Berry Hayes

Green Berry Hayes died at 5:30 am today at his home, 831 South 19th Street. He was 68 years, eight months and five days old.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday at the Hopewell Methodist Church of which he was a member, with Rev. L. A. Wagley and Rev. Roy Beal officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, where friends may call after 6 pm today.

Mr. Hayes was born in this city on July 1, 1890, the son of Hiram and Wilda (Fultz) Hayes.

On December 21, 1910, he was married to Hattie Wilson, who survives.

Others survivors include three sons, Otis Hayes of this city, John Hayes of Abilene, Texas, and James Hayes of Hobbs, N.M.; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Johnson of Mt. Vernon and Miss Fredia Hayes at home; two brothers, Ira Hayes of Phoenix, Ariz. and Vernie Hayes, four sisters, Mrs. Belle Phelps, Mrs. Clara Alexander, and Mrs. Bessie Correll of this city and Mrs. Nelle Wilson of Jacksonville, IL; and several grandchildren.

Mr. Hayes a retired farmer was preceded in death by his parents, a son, daughter, brother, and sister.
