Myrond D. Haun

Myrond D. "Pee Wee" Haun, 87, of Mt. Vernon died 9:10 p.m. May 23, 2001, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.

He was the owner and operator of Haun Oil Company Marathon Distributor for 46 and a half years. He was Mt. Vernon Township Clerk for 24 years and was also a Mt. Vernon Township Trustee for many years.

Mr. Haun was born Sept. 4, 1913, in Beacoup to Gilbert and Mabel (Pitchford) Haun.

He married Mary L. Piper June 28, 1942 in St. Charles; she died Sept. 15, 1986.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Revs. Robert F. Freytag and Joel Whiteside will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home.

He is survived by one daughter, Lana K. Settle and husband H. Lynn of Eagan, Minn.; one granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Settle Parrot and husband Daryll of Plano, Texas;one brother, Orland Haun and wife Marcie of Lyons; two sisters, Irene Riceof North Canton, Ohio and Grace Forrister Bjornberg and husband Herb of Scottsdale, Ariz.; also several nieces and nephew survive..

Mr. Haun was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a life time member of the Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge 755 and the Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge 819. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon and the AmvetsPost 4 of Mt. Vernon. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He enlistedSept. 25, 1942 and was discharged Dec. 11, 1945.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Raymond, Howard and William.

Mr. Haun was known as a person who loved his family and enjoyedvisiting with all his friends as long as they were willing.
