Catherine Harvey
Catherine Harvey, Mother of 13 chidlren, nine of whom are living, died
at her home in Woodlawn at 8:35pm Sunday at the age of 84 years, 9
months, 2 days. She leaves 36 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Harvey was born December 22, 1859 near Woodlawn to Thomas and
Catherine (McSwine) Moore. Early in childhood she became a memeber of the
Mt. Catherine church near Woodlawn where funeral services will be held
at 2 pm. Tuesday with the Rev. Garrett Phillips of Golden Gate, Ill.,
officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Catherine Cemetery.
Mrs. Harvey was married at the age of 14 to Louis Harvey whoe died in
1914. Two sons and two daughters also proceeder her in death.
Surviving are five daugthers, Mrs. Addie Martin, Mrs. Lora Dunlap of
Woodlawn, Ethel Kite of Little Rock, Ark.,Sylvia Phiips of Mount Vernon
and Lottie Slater of the WAC who is stationed in Chicago, four sons,
Amos C. Harvey of Thompsonville, Thomas Harvey of Peoria, Lewis Harvey of
Woodlawn, Fred Harvey, Chief Petty Officer in the Navy stationed
somewhere in the South Pacific.
Mrs. Harvey was very active in church work until the past few years
when her health began to fail. She had been ciritically ill since last
Tuesday.
The body was removed from the Hawkins and Pully Funeral Home at 10 am
today and was taken to the family home to remain unil the funeral hour.
