James A. Harlow

James A. Harlow Dies Suddenly

James A. Harlow, 57, died at his home, 1722 Main, at *a.m. Today after a long period of failing health. His condition took a turn for the worse early this morning and death was sudden.

Born October 31 1889 on a farm in Jefferson county, he was the son of Noah and Mattie (Williams) Harlow.

In 1910 he was married in Mt. Vernon to Isabel McMeen who survives along with their three sons, Leo and Farris Of Woodlawn and James of California.

An upholsterer by trade, he operated his own shop.

Other survivors are two brothers, Monroe and Arthur Harlow of Mt. Vernon, a sister, Mrs. Emma Luety of Kell, two half brothers Elijah and Riley Harlow of Mt. Vernon and three half sisters, Mrs. Elfrida Rainey, Mrs. Mary Pate and Mrs. Sarah Carpenter of Mt. Vernon.

He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist church, two miles south of Dix, conducted by the Rev. Cyrus Maulding of Mt. Vernon, assisted By Rev. A.l. Smith of Dix. Burial will be in pleasant hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix until 7 p.m. Friday, and after that the family residence.


*NOTE* James A. Harlow died in 1947
