Mahulda Haley Dies Yesterday at Age of 87
Mahulda Haley, widow of Charles A. Haley, died at 2:30 pm. yesterday at
her home at 1804 Stanley Avenue.
She was 87 years, five months and three days of age.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 pm. in the Pulley-Gutzler Funeral chapel
with Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in the West Salem Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the chapel after 6 pm today.
Mrs. Haley was born Feb. 4, 1877 in Sullivan, Ind., the daughter of James and
Lydia (Hayes) Rankin. On Feb. 8, 1893 in Jefferson County she was married to
Charles Haley. He died in 1963.
She is survived by one son, Frank Haley, of Mt. Vernon; three daughters,
Mrs. Lettah Badgett and Mrs. Pearl Apgar, of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Elva Frick,
of St. Louis; one brother Mort Baker of Dix; and one sister, Mrs. Dora Staley,
also of Dix.
Mrs. Haley is also survived by six grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter and two grandchildren
