Lucy E. Grothoff, 94, of Opdyke died 4:55 pm Sept. 29, 2002, at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon.

She was a nurse aide at Jeffersonian Nursing Home for 20 years. Mrs. Grothoff was born Jan. 1, 1908, in Belmont, Mo., to William McFarland and Hattie (Manwaring) McFarland.

She married Charles Fredrick (Fred) Grothoff Dec. 10, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, he died Sept. 27, 1984.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday at Grothoff Cemetery in Jefferson COunty. Those attending this service are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Tuesday. The Rev. Everett Lemay will officiate.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm today at Hughey Funearl Home. Mrs. Grothoff is survived by two daughters, Mildred "Lillie" Zirkelbach and husband James of Belle Rive and Margaret Morgan of St. Ann, Mo., two sons, Charles Grothoff and wife Wilma of Bonnie and Clarence Grothoff of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren; two great-granchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was precdded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, two brothers and one infant daughter, Joyce.
