Velma Lorene "Imogene" Grant, 81, of Mt. Vernon died at 3:23 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Crossroads Community Hospital.

She was born on May 3, 1921 in Mt. Vernon, daughter of Charles E. and Nellie Mae (Dorris) Roeder.

She married Robert Alson Grant in June 1940, and he preceded her in death on Jan 12, 1967.

Mrs. Grant is survived by a son, Russell Wayne Grant and wife Marsha of Athens, Texas; a daughter, Patricia Grant of Mt. Vernon; a brother Derrell Roeder of Mt. Vernon; a son-in-law, Gary Flanagan of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren, Jody Cooper and husband Ian of Mt. Vernon, Robert Flanagan and wife Kristy of Olney, Meridith Grant and Natalie Grant, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Hailey Flanagan, Kaitlyn Flanagan and Lukas Cooper.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Allen Grant; a daughter, Phyllis Jean Flanagan; five brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Grant was a homemaker.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the New Shiloh Cemetery with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Those attending the services are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
