Opal Mary (Roberts) Graham

Opal Mary Graham, 98, died 11:55 a.m. Oct. 29, 2005, at her residence in Leesburg, Fla.

She was a longtime resident of Rose Lane Apartments in Mt. Vernon. She was a homemaker and lived on the farm with her husband, Robert, for 20 years.

Mrs. Graham was born Friday, Nov. 16, 1906, in Waltonville to James and Laura (Bravard) Roberts.

She married Robert Graham Dec. 24, 1925, in Coldwater, Mo.; he died Sept. 15, 1944.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Bill Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at South Hickory Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Graham is survived by daughters Norma Brook of Leesburg, Fla., Geraldine (Glover) Clark of Leesburg, Fla., Deloris "Bobi" Rzesztorski and husband Ed of San Antonio, Texas, and Laurine "Tuttie" Ferrell of Talbot, Tenn.; sons Louis Graham and wife Nadine of Davenport, Fla., H. Richard "Dick" Graham of Glendale, Ariz., Kenneth Graham and wife Kay of Mt. Vernon and Carroll "Cecil" Graham and wife Kathy of Marion; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Graham; an infant daughter, Maxine; a son, James "Jim" Graham; a granddaughter; seven brothers, Sherman, Gail, Clyde, Ned, Alva, Wayman and Red; and three sisters, Martha Masters, Lena Humphry and Leatha Pickett.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral Home, where you may call 242-3348 for further information.
