Leslie Lee Ganieany

Leslie Lee Ganieany, 82, of Bluford died June 12, 2005, at Blessings Hospital in Quincy.

He was a farmer and owned and operated Les's Sawmill in Farrington Township for many years.

Mr. Ganieany was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Mildred, Mont., to Victor Lee and Nora Belle (Fally) Ganieany.

He married Victoria Alene "Donoho" Ganieany March 15, 1941, in St. Louis; she preceded him in death May 7, 1998.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. The Rev. James Slater will officiate. Burial will be at Union Chapel Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.

Mr. Ganieany is survived by children the Rev. Leland Ganieany and wife Phyllis of Bluford, Una French and husband Norman of Dix, Jerry Ganieany and wife Jacqueline of Banner and the Rev. Luther Ganieany and wife Ann of Ina; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Pierce and husband Dewey of Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Mr. Ganieany graduated from Shields High School. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II with Gen. George Patton's Third Army in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of New Home "Lowery" General Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent for many years.
