George Friar Dies at Spring Garden

George Friar, highly respected citizen of this community died at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the home of his son, George Friar, Jr. at Spring Garden. He was 88 years of age.

Mr. Friar for many years operated a blacksmith shop in Spring Garden, followed farming and for some time operated a sawmill and threshing machine.

He was married to Harriet Ellen Atchison who preceded him in death about nine years ago.

He is survived by three sons and one daughter, Jack Friar and George Friar, Jr. of Spring Garden, and Harvey Friar of Mt. Vernon; and Mrs. Mary Ellen Kniffen of Mt. Vernon.

Two sons preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at Hams Grove Church.
