Isabel Green Foster
Isabel Green was born March 4, 1825, in North Carolina, and lived there nntil
nine years of age, when her parents removed to Jennings county, Indiana.
Ou March 16. 1845, she was united in marriage to Jonathan Foster. They
spent their early married life in Indiana, removed to Jefferson county, 111., in
1861, and from there to Hamilton Co., Neb., in 1873. To them was born nine
children, seven of whom are still living, two having died in infancy. She was
converted at fourteen years of age, uniting with the Baptist church and remaining
in that church until her marriage when she went with her husband to the
Christian church, that being her church home until their removal to Nebraska
at which time she with her husband united with the M. E. church, living for
sixty years as devoted christian, when God called her home August 11, 1899,
aged 74 years, 5 months and 7 days.

Her husband, five children and six grandchildren were with her in her last
momenta. The names of her children are Mrs. Radie Bane of Dee Moines, la.,
Mrs. M. M. Smith of York. Neb., Mrs. M. M. Jones of Opdyke, 111., Mrs. Lucy
B. Soward of Pioneerville, Idaho, Mrs. Gay Cook of Bromfield. Mrs. J. A. Foster
of Glenville, Neb, Wm. J. Foster of Bromfield, Neb. All the children are
members of the M. E. church. The funeral took place at the M. E. church
Bromfield, Sunday, August 13, at 10 a. m., in charge of Rev. Hollingworth
assisted by Ban Harney and C. H. Bronilietta. The large concearse of people
who gathered to pay their last respects to the remains of Mother Foster
speak more than any words of ours, to show the esteem in which she was
held, a great many being unable to gain admission inside of the church. She
was well known and loved by every one for her Kind, loving disposition, and
will be missed in many homes where she has been wont to go, but most of all
in the hrnne circle now broken. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery
south of Bromfield.
