Belle (Dycus) Fairchild

Mrs. Belle Dycus Fairchild, 74, of 2626 Logan Street, died at 11:25 a.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was a retired teacher and an employee of the Mammoth Department Store.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Clyde Funkhouser officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 5:00 p.m. today. At noon Tuesday the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Fairchild was born May 4, 1895, in Jefferson county the daughter of Squire and Hattie Jane (Gaddis) Dycus.

On September 20, 1917, in Mt. Vernon, she was married to A. W. (Jack) Fairchild, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Warren D. Fairchild and Donald L. Fairchild, both of Mt. Vernon; and five grandhildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter.

Mrs. Fairchild was a member of the Business and Professional Club, Homemakers Extension and Retail Clerks Association and had taught in the Jefferson county school system since 1911.
