Of Mt. Vernon Died
At Age 68
Funeral services for Edwin Dale Estes, 68, 915 S. 21st St., will be
held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Myers-Baril Chapel with the Rev. Ross Partridge
officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Estes died at 4 a.m. Tuesday at his home. He owned and operated the
Estes Market at Camp Ground and later worked as a child care worker for
the Methodist Children’s Home.
Mr. Estes was born in Jefferson County Dec. 18, 1912, the son of Ed and
Ollie (Keef) Estes. On Dec. 24, 1930, in Mt. Vernon, he married Gladys
Shelton, who survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Don (Jane)
Bailey of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Charles (Sue) Garner of Silver Lake, Kan.,
two sisters, Beulah Campbell of Opdyke and Grace Roney of Mt. Vernon; 11
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Estes was a member of the Camp Ground Baptist Church..
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother
and a son, Calvin.
