Pauline E. Ellis, 87, of Mt. Vernon, died 5:53 p.m. Jan. 11, 2007, at Mt. Vernon Health Care.

She was born on March 4, 1919, in Mt. Vernon to Thomas Carter and Francis (Flanagan) Carter.

On June 11, 1936 she married Lloyd Ellis in Mt. Vernon. Pauline attended Zion Grade School and was a life-long member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion United Methodist Church. Bob Fear and Bud Storey officiated. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery.

Pauline is survived by son Jerry E. Ellis and wife Wilma of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren Paula Penrod and husband Paul of Mt. Vernon, Marcia Scott and husband Mike of Bluford, and Jerry A. Ellis and wife Gina of Mt. Vernon; great grandchildren Shawn Poole and wife Shana, Stacie Minor and husband Mike, Jennifer Ellis, Christopher Ellis, Amanda Ellis, Rebekah Ellis, Jessica Scott, and Joshua Scott; four great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Jane Carter of Mt. Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Jewell Tate and husband Orvil, Evelyn Ellis and husband Ferral, Gertie Scott and husband Hershel, Flossie Pierce and husband Hubert, and Bonnie Eller and husband Lee, and brother Bob Carter.

Memorials may be given to the Zion United Methodist Church and will be received at the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, Ill. 62830.
