Edith B. (Morlan) Eater

Edith B. Eater, 87, of Mt. Vernon died 9 p.m. Sept. 9, 2005, at Mt. Vernon Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Nov. 3, 1917, in Mt. Vernon to Thomas and Eunice (Skelton) Morlan.

She married Olen Eater Jan. 7, 1937, in Mt. Vernon.

Services are set for 2 p.m. today in the chapel at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon, with interment to follow. The Rev. Bill Causer will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 1:30 to 2 p.m. today in the chapel at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon.

Survivors include her husband, Olen Eater of Mt. Vernon; a son, Jim Eater and wife Debbie of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Delores McCann and husband Dave of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Mike McCann and wife Mary Ann of Mt. Vernon, Julie Eater of the British Virgin Islands and Jamie Eater and husband Rick Parrish of Ocala, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Chris McCann of Joliet, Tim and Melissa Koch of Mt. Vernon, Jessie Parrish of Ocala, Fla., and Allie Parrish of Ocala, Fla.; sisters Irene Lynn of Mt. Vernon and Pauline Ellis and husband Loren of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Tom Morlan Jr.

Mrs. Eater was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Angels on Assignment and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL, 62864.
