Eddie Dyer

Eddie Dyer, of 1600 Perkins avenue, died at 4:15 o'clock this morning at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past 12 days.

Mr. Dyer, a shoe repairman, was 72 years and 24 days of age.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Ace Summers officiating, and burial will be in West Salem cemetery.

The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call at any time after 10 am Saturday.

Mr. Dyer was born January 22, 1879 in Dixon Springs, Ill., the son of Joseph and Martha (Baker) Dyer. He had been a resident of Mt. Vernon for the past 35 years.

He was married tin Golconda, in 1901, to Mary Sexton, who survives.

Mr. Dyer was a member of the Bethel Tabernacle church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, harley Elwood Dyer of Waukegan and the Rev. Howard Dyer of Newark, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Bowers of Effingham and Mrs. Jessamine Moses of Mt. Vernon; one brother, C.L. Dyer of Carbondale; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Dixon of Mounds, Oklahoma and Mrs. Amelia Farmer of Nimmons, Arkansas; and seven grandchildren.
