Irvie Ray Dycus

Irvie Ray Dycus, 89, of Greenville, Texas, and formerly of Olney died 12:45 p.m. June 13, 2006, in Presbyterian Hospital in Greenville, Texas.

He was a retired owner/operator of service stations in the Olney area.

Mr. Dycus was born May 17, 1917, in Waltonville to Irvie F. and Rose (Stern) Dycus.

He married Herma B. (Jenner) Dycus Sept. 12, 1945; she survives.

Graveside services were held June 20 at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney. The Rev. George Fritschle officiated. Full military rites were performed by the Olney veterans.

Mr. Dycus is survived by his wife, Herma Dycus of Greenville, Texas, and formerly of Olney; daughters Jane Fritschle and husband George of Indian Lake Estates, Fla., and Nancy Bowles and husband Robert of Roswell, N.M.; a brother, Robert M. Dycus of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.

Mr. Dycus was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-1945. He mostly served in the CBI Theater. He was a life member of the American Legion and BPOE 926 in Olney.
