Fred E. Dunlap

Fred E. Dunlap, 80, of Mt. Vernon died 2:50 p.m. Nov. 25, 2004, at his home.

He was first owner/operator of Fred's Movers in Chicago and later was owner/operator of Fred's Tavern in Arcola.

Mr. Dunlap was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Woodlawn to David Eli and Lora Clifford Harvey Dunlap.

He married Anna M. (Fulse) Dunlap June 17, 1971; she survives.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Catherine Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. No public visitation will be held, however, the family is extending an invitation to family and friends to join them at the Country Time Dance Hall on Illinois route 148 at Nason road following the graveside service. The Rev. Dale Burzynski will officiate.

Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. No public visitation will be held.

Mr. Dunlap is survived by his wife, Anna M. Dunlap of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Paula Febre of Newport Richey, FL., and Sherry Garvin and husband Edward of Gilbert, Ariz.; a son, Mike Unger and wife Dana of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren Michael John Lorenzo and wife Brenda of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Jacqueline Grob and husband Stephan of Fishers, Ind., Amber Jones of Knoxville, lTN., Anthony Beck of Knoxville, TN., and Krista Beck, of Knoxville, TN.; great-grandchildren Isaiah Grob of Fishers, Ind., and Emma Grob of Fishers, Ind.; seven stepchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; and 24 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Dunlap was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the 2nd Cavalry during World War II. He received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled Veterans of America.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
