Sarah S. Drennan
Sarah S. DRENNAN was born March 17, 1855 in Franklin County, near Sesser, and died
November 14, 1920, at her home at Dryden near Sheller, being 65 years, 7 months and 25 days old.
She was married October 3, 1872 to Robert N. ALLEN and moved to her home at Dryden October 31, 1872,
where she has since resided. She was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, at
Dryden, November 1872, to which she has remained and devoted, giving to it in unstinted measure the
best of her life and service, until her willing response to the call of the church triumphant. Her
home may truly be said to have served throughout the years as parsonage to the ministry who have
served this charge. Likewise a welcome was extended to the stranger and pilgrim as well as to neighbor
and friend.
She leaves to mourn her loss: a husband, four children: J. W. ALLEN of Centralia, Mrs. Margaret
BOTTENFIELD of Sparta, S. J. ALLEN of Vandalia and Harry D. ALLEN of Sheller. The eldest daughter
Mrs. Mary J. LOLLAR, departed this life some three years ago. She leaves also nine grandchildren,
a sister and a host of friends.
