William E. Dodson

William E. "Ed" Dodson, 85, Mt. Vernon, died 10:30 p.m. May 3, 1994, at his home.

Mr. Dodson was employed for several years at Precision National Corp. and later was a laborer with Local 529 in Benton.

He was born March 9, 1909, in Mt. Vernon, a son of Alva and Ethel I. (Clopton) Dodson Sr.

May 22, 1929, in Nashville, he married Virginia Snow, who survives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Dodson is survived by three sons, James E. Dodson and wife Freda, and Robert Dodson and wife Donna, all of Mt. Vernon, and Don Dodson and wife Colleen of Texico; seven grand children, Terry Dodson and wife Teresa, Jim J. Dodson and wife Jamie, Susan, Mike, and Cary Dodson, Heather Hall and husband John, and Michelle Maynor and husband Lyle: seven great grand children; a brother Walter Dodson and wife Imogene of Dix; five sisters, Aline Slinkard, Bertha Rainey, Lorene Eckhardt and husband Charles of Rochelle, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dodson was a member of Laborers Local 529 in Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alva Dodson, Jr., and two sisters, Mildred Helen Dodson and Pebbie Lucille Dodson.
