James Ray "Jim" Dial

James Ray "Jim" Dial, 66, of Bluford died 2:30 a.m. July 6, 2005, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.

He was a retired mechanics foreman for Dial Corporation in Montgomery.

Mr. Dial was born Oct. 17, 1938, in Jefferson County to Clarence and Faye (Williams) Dial. He married Edna M. (Martin) Dial Feb. 23, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas; she survives.

No public service or visitation will be held, per Mr. Dial's request. Burial will be in Opdyke Cemetery.

Mr. Dial is survived by his wife, Edna Dial of Bluford; a son, R. Wayne Dial and wife Jennifer of Yorkville; two grandchildren, Derek Dial and Courtney Dial; a brother, Charles (Doug) Dial and wife Kathy of Opdyke; a sister, Glenna Beck and husband Roy of Bluford; a special nephew, Gary Lee Green of Earlville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Dial served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961, where he was a medic and also participated in boxing. He loved owning and training horses and he also enjoyed fishing and hunting and taught his son how to fish and hunt. He loved the land and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
