Harry Fred Denham

Harry Fred Denham, 77, of Belle Rive died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Gary Whipple officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Camp Cemetery in Belle Rive, with graveside military rites by the American Legion Post 106. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) to the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sugar Camp Cemetery Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Jefferson County, the son of Fred and Martha Ellen (Nellie) (Neible) Denham.

He married Lovell Mae (Lankford) on Sept. 13, 1952, and she survives.

Mr. Denham was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired farmer and started early, working for area farmers. He worked at the Mt. Vernon Stove Foundry for several years. He also enjoyed woodworking. He was a former member of the Sugar Camp Cemetery board, a Belle Rive grade school board member, member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau, and the Blue Cross-Blue Shield local insurance board. He attended Belle Rive Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lovell Mae Denham; a daughter, Kathy Sue Dagg and husband, Terry Glenn, of Belle Rive; a granddaughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Dagg, of Belle Rive; three brothers, Harvey Levi Denham of McLeansboro, Vernon Udel and wife, Edna, Denham, of Minooka, Herbert Denham and wife, Barbara, of Mt. Vernon; and a sister, Laura Mae Schlag, of Belle Rive; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Denham was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roscoe Eugene Denham; and two sisters, Roberta Jones and Daisy Ellen Kehrer.
