Martha Arbella (McKinney) Dempsey

Martha Arbella McKINNEY DEMPSEY, widow of Rev. Thomas J. DEMPSEY, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ray TAYLOR, at 6 p.m. Sunday after an illness that confined her to her bed the past three years.

She was born in Webster County, Kentucky, August 27, 1856, and her age was 90y4m8d. Her parents, James and Polly McKINNEY came to Jefferson County when she was a child.

On the 22nd day of March 1877 she was united in marriage with Rev. Thomas J. DEMPSEY, who died November 2, 1918.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nannie TAYLOR, and one adopted daughter, Mrs. Minnie TYLER, both of Ina, 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. DEMPSEY has been a member of the Free Will Baptist Church with membership in New Hope and later at Ina for many years. Funeral was held at the Ina Free Will Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with services in charge of the pastor, Rev. Wallace MALONE. Burial took place at the Hope Cemetery. The Ina Funeral Home had charge of the funeral.
