Bob Davis

Bob Davis, 69, of Mt. Vernon died 1:48 p.m. Feb. 10, 2005, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was a 1958 graduate of the St. Louis School of Pharmacy and was owner/operator of Southside Pharmacy until 1986; at the time of his death, he was employed as a pharmacist at Wal-Mart Pharmacy, where he had been for 17 years.

Mr. Davis was born Sept. 26, 1935, in Harrisburg to Robert Franklin and Mildred I. (Beabout) Davis.

He married Sharon (Borden) Davis on Sept. 4, 1955, in Mt. Vernon; she survives.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. J.R. Janese will officiate. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. A Shrine walk through will be conducted at 8 p.m.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Sharon Davis of Mt. Vernon; daughters Lynn Schorfheide and husband Bill of O'Fallon, Mo., and Christie Bond and husband Mark of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren Kati Bond of Mt. Vernon, Erin Bond of Mt. Vernon, Maggie Bond of Mt. Vernon, Paul Bond of Mt. Vernon, Lauren Curry of O'Fallon, Mo., and Ryan Schorfheide of O'Fallon, Mo.; nieces Donna Dare and husband Dennis of Mount Zion and Laura Vladetich and husband Mike of Ina; and several great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Davis was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church, Jefferson County Shrine Club, Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31 AF & AM and Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis. He was a board member of the YMCA. He was proud of all of his grandchildren, and his family was first in his life. He loved attending Mt. Vernon Rams basketball games. He served in the Army National Guard.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
