Marvin G. Dagg, 65, of Mt. Vernon died 1:37 p.m. Oct. 24, 2000, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Dagg was owner and operator of Dagg's Auto Repair.

He was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Jefferson County, to Gerald W. and Fannie J. (Somers) Dagg.

He married Carolyn F. Danner Sept. 15, 1955, in Mt. Vernon; she survives.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Revs. Jeff VanDyke and Leroy Dude officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery, north of Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Martha Strothmann and husband Keith of Mt. Vernon; four sons, Terry Dagg and wife Kathy of Belle Rive, Dennis Dagg and wife Mary Ann of Texico, Patick Dagg and friend Sherry Baker of Mattoon and Marvin Dean Dagg of St. Louis; seven grandchildren, Stacy Dagg, Dustin Dagg, Derek Strothmann, Travis Strothmann, Patrick Lewis Dagg, Kelly Dagg, Jennifer Dagg; two brothers, Verl Dean Dagg and wife Joyce of Vandalia and Lloyd Dagg and wife Sharon of Blue Mound; and a brother-in-law, Bill Danner and wife Marge of Surprise, Ariz.

Mr. Dagg was an easy going person, and was very interested in all his family and what they were doing, and would go the second mile to help anyone who might need his help.

He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister Melba Jean Dagg.
