Ethel Lucille Farthing-Crowder

Ethel Lucille Farthing-Crowder, died Oct. 13, 2001, in El Sobrante, Calif. at Live Oak Living Center.

Mrs Crowder had lived all her life in Mt. Vernon until two years ago, when she relocated to California.

She was born February 16, 1916, to Raleigh and Lula {Linder) Farthing in Waltonville.

On July 11, 1931, she married Grover M. Crowder; he died in 1989. They owned the Crowder Tile Company in Mt. Vernon for many years.

During World War II, she worked at the International Shoe Company in Mt. Vernon.

Ethel Lucille is survived by her daughter, Jean Crowder-Gonzales of El Sobrante, Calif. three grandchildren, Bonnie Jane McMenomy of San Diego, Calif., and Sherri Lynn Putnam of Vacaville, Calif.; she was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Christene McMenomy of San Diego, Calif., and Nick and Nicole Putnam of Vacaville, Calif.; and a sister, Della Walker, of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

No funeral services were held. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens  at a later date with grave side services.
