Mildred F. (Brown) Coulter

Mildred F. Coulter, 89, of Mt. Vernon died 4 a.m. Sept. 28, 2004, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Prior to her retirement, she was a floor girl for the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory.

Mrs. Coulter was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Jefferson County to John D. and Louisa Ann (Wells) Brown.

She married Archie C. Coulter Aug. 21, 1948, in Mt. Vernon; he died Jan. 13, 1999.

Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Gillock will officiate. Those attending this service are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Thursday. No public visitation will be held.

Mrs. Coulter is survived by nephews Ronald Brown of Edwardsville, Mark Brown of Wood River and John Brown of Benton; a niece, Sharon Pugh of Benton; and several cousins. She is also survived by a special caregiver, Lana Luitjohn of Mt. Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Delmar and Frank Brown; and a sister, Pauline Hayse.

Mrs. Coulter was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.
