Thomas Leo Cook, 84, of Mt. Vernon died 5:15 am Sept. 15, 2001, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

He retired in 1979 from Caterpillar Co. in Aurora.

Mr. Cook was born May 20, 1917 in Spring Garden to Silas Nubern and Christina (Riggs) Cook.

He married Anna (Wilson) Cook; she died July 26, 1965.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday at Johnston Funeral home in Ina. The Rev. Daren Durcy will officiate. Burial will be at Kirk Cemetery in Ina.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Ina.

Graveside military rites will be conducted by Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141.

He is survived by one son, Thomas Leland Cook and wife Theresa of Ina; two daughters, Donna Steele of Bonnie and Eva Lena Conner and husband Bod pf Richland, Washington; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and one sister, Lena Mae Book and husband Orval of Ina; a special friend Allene Anderson of Bonnie.

Mr. Cook attended the Bonnie Baptist CHurch. He was a Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Phillipines.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Edna Settle, three brothers, Ray Riggs, Bud Cook and Sylvan Cook, also his second wife Florine Cook.
