Sarah Ruth Cockrum

Little Sarah Ruth Cockrum, aged 3 years, died this morning at the house of her grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Stephenson, of brain fever, an ailment from which she had been a sufferer for the past two weeks.

Something over a year ago Mrs. Mary Cockrum came to Mt. Vernon to live following the death of her husband, Frank Cockrum, which occurred at Ina.

The family formerly lived in Kansas City, where the little daughter was born. While here but a short time, the sweet little girl brought a brightness into the world that will be missed. She had such a sweet and attractive manner about her which seemed to perpetuate a gladness wherever she went. The dainty little flower has been transplanted to the great garden above, where no withering or dying ever comes and this thought brings comfort to those who expect to meet the loved one at the end of life's journey.

A short funeral service will be held at the house of Mrs. Stephenson, 501 South 17th Street, and the body will be taken to Ina for burial.

*NOTE* Sarah Ruth Cockrum is buried next to her father Stephen Frank Cockrum at Kirk Cemetery. B. July 22, 1912; D. April 5, 1916
