James Daniel Cochran

James Daniel COCHRAN was born at Ash Grove near Windsor, Ill. April 3, 1833 and departed this life at the home of his son, Frank COCHRAN this city, April 19, 1917. He was therefore 84y16d of age.

Mr. COCHRAN was a corporal of Co. A. 54 Illinois Volunteer Infantry in the CIvil War. He thus served his country from 1861 to 1865. He was also the grandson of a Revolutionary soldier and has been a life long Democrat.

He was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Miss Elizabeth HULL on November 12, 1865, who preceded him to the better land, departing this life October 6, 1911.

To this union three children were born: John and Marie both having preceded him into the life beyond; and J. F. COCHRAN who still survives.

Mr. COCHRAN has been an active member of the Christian Church for more than 50 years. He has resided in Shelby, Fayette, Marion and Jefferson Counties and in each of these places has contributed of his time and money for the church he loved so much.

He leaves behind in addition to his many relatives and friends in and out of church who still mourn his departure.

Those who wish to view the remains will have the opportunity of doing so Friday from 12:00 noon to 2:40 p.m. at the family residence 403 N. 7th St. The funeral services will be conducted by Benj. W. TATE at the First Christian Church of this city Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock and the body will be taken to Shelby County for burial Saturday.
