Carrie (Waite) Coats

MRS. JOHN W. COATS WAS BURIED TODAY

Services Held At Family Home, And Interment Followed at Oakwood Cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Carrie Coats, wife of John W. Coats, was held this afternoon. Services were held at 2 o'clock at the family home 210 South Sixth street, conducted by the Rev. W. J. Lamp, pastor of Epworth M. E. church and burial followed at Oakwood cemetery.

Mrs. Coats was 72 years old, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Waite.

Before coming to Mt. Vernon, she was a member of the Liberty M. E. church. She attended the Epworth M. E. church, while a resident of this city.

Mrs. Coats had been in very poor health the last six months, and her death was not unexpected as her condition had been serious some days.

She suffered intensely but never complained, and bore her afflictions with great fortitude. She was an excellent woman, and a sincere and devoted Christian, wife and mother.

Mrs. Coats is survived by her husband, John W. Coats and two children, Mrs. Claud Hutchison and S. E. Coats, of this city.

One sister, Mrs. James Webber, survives.
