William Edward Clinton

William Edward CLINTON, former Mt. Vernon Township constable, died at 5:45 p.m. yesterday at his home on RFD 5, McLeansboro. He was 86 years, five months and 26 days of age.

Mr. Clinton, a livestock dealer, was at one time a policeman at Waltonville. He had resided on RFD McLeansboro for the past ten years.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Myers Chapel and burial will follow in Bald Hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Clinton was born May 25, 1871 at Ina, the son of John W. and Francis M. (HODGE) Clinton.

He was married to Olive QUINN, who preceded him in death November 7, 1939.

He is survivied by two foster daughters, Mrs. Margie ABRAMS and Mrs. Leota THOMSON, both of Mt. Vernon; his step-mother, Mrs. Ollie CLINTON of Ina; three half-brothers, Cecil CLINTON of Three River, Michigan, Rosier CLINTON of Alton, IL, and Holly CLINTON; three half-sisters, Mrs. Russel LAUR and Mrs. John BEARD, both of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Pearl GOESSMAN of California and several nieces and nephews.
