James Barnett Clinton

LIVED 81 YEARS ON SAME FARM - J. B. CLINTON, 81, well known farmer, died at 11:00 last night at the home of his son, Arthur CLINTON, in Ina. He had been ill for the past three months with the infirmities of age.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Ina Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. R. McDUFFY officiating and burial will be in Kirk Cemetery. The body will remain at the Ina Funeral Home, where friends may call.

Mr. CLINTON was born near Ina on June 12, 1866, the son of William Barnet and Rebecca (McADOO) CLINTON. He lived his entire life on the farm where he was born until a week ago, when he became critically ill and was moved to the home of his son.

On November 1, 1891, he was married to Louisa Abigail COCKRUM, who survives.

Mr. Clinton, a lifelong Republican, was active for many years in politics and held various township offices.

Surviving, besides his wife, are five sons, Quincy L. of Clarenda, Iowa; Carson of Webster Groves, Mo.; Carl of Ina; Claude of Olive Branch, Ill.; and Arthur of Ina; two daughters, Mrs. Elva CASEY of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Ada BONNEAU of Pueblo, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Harriet BOOK of Mt. Vernon; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
