Aaron Davis Clinton

Rev. Davis CLINTON died at his home 5 miles east of Ina, near
New Hope Church at 12:30 o'clock Sunday morning. He had been
in poor health for a year but not seriously afflicted until the
last two weeks.

He was born in Crittenden County, KY, November 5th, 1852. If he
had lived until the 5th of November, he would have been 80 years
of age. His father, William Barnett CLINTON, moved from Crittenden
County, to a site one and a half miles northwest of Ina when Mr. CLINTON
was two years of age, and he had lived there with his father until he
was married to Malinda PUCKETT, November 7, 1872. To this union were
born seven children, namely, George CLINTON, of Ina, Mrs. Cora SCARBOROUGH
of Benton, Mrs. Ida HAYSE, who died about 20 years ago, Mrs. Mazie TUCKER
who died in 1904, Miss Kelda CLINTON died in 1900, Mrs. Nettie SCARBOROUGH
of Benton and Mrs. Mabel ING of Logan. Malinda, his wife, died in 1900.

He was then married to Mrs. Delia BEAVIS of Ina. Mr. CLINTON leaves
one sister, Mrs. Martha HARMON, two half sisters, Harriet BOOK and
Eliza COOK, and two half brothers, Ed and Barnett CLINTON of Ina.

Mr. CLINTON was a minister of the Gospel and belonged to the New Hope
Free Will Baptist Church and took great interest in the work of the church.
In the years of his active life he worked zealously for the church and enjoyed
the love and respect of all who knew him. He suffered greatly in the long
and weary months in which he was confined to his bed but was ever cheerful.
He was given all care and consideration by his wife and children that love
can lavish. Rev. CLINTON possessed great talent in speaking and singing,
and had a good delivery.

Funeral services were held this morning at 10 o'clock at the New Hope Church
and were conducted by Rev. M. L. BAKER and Rev. Joe MEADS and W. R. BURTON
and W. R. SPURLOCK. Burial was had at the Kirk Cemetery north of Ina.
