Obituaries

Mildred (Wininger) Chambliss

Mildred Chambliss, 76, 1103 Wilkin St., and late of Nature Trail Nursing Home, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was born Aug. 13, 1908, in Mt. Vernon, a daughter of William Pierce and Lucy (Durdin) Wininger.

She married Orval Moore and later married Harley Chambliss, both of whom preceeded her in death.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors included three sons, Orval Lee Moore of Ina; Jack R. and Harley Chambliss, Jr. of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Yvonne) Cates of Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Don (Maxine) Powless of Fairfield; Mrs. Bob (Sharon) Hibbs of Oakwood; one stepdaughter, Alma Gulley of Marion; one sister, Sarah Crim of Mt. Vernon; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceeded in death by one sister, Jeanie Bumpus; two brothers, Lee Wininger and William Isaac Wininger; one stepson, Harold Chambliss; one granddaughter, two grandsons and her parents.

She had been employed at Swift & Co. and the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory. She attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
