Lena H. (Piercy) Carpenter

Mrs. Lena H. Carpenter, 75 of Dix, died at 10:00 pm Sunday at Good Samaratian Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Boyd Pentecostal Church of which she was a member, with the Rev. Louis Robinett and the Rev. Leroy Piercy offciation, Burial will be in the Boyd Pentecostal Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, where friends may call after 6:00pm, Tuesday.

Mrs. Carpenter was born December 7, 1894, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Henry and Susie (Fiser) Piercy.

On January 23, 1913, she was married to John H. Carpenter, who died in 1950.

Survivors include on son, James Carpenter of Batabia, four daughters, Ethel Meadows of Mt. Vernon, Viola Tinsley and Nora Simmons both of Dix and Evelyn Wray of Bluford; one brother, Walter Piercy of Mt. Vernon; seven sisters, Ada Harvey and Lille Marlow of Dix, Faye Poorman, Margaret Wegmann, Ida Carpenter, Nellie Germann all of Woodlawn, and May Harvey of Ceneva, Illinois, a grandson, Edward Tate of Dix, who was reared in her home; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three grandchildren.
