William Howard Carnahan, Sr.

William Howard Carnahan, Sr., 72, 1215 S. 23rd St., died at 3:10 p.m. Friday in Good Samaritan Hospital.

Mr. Carnahan operated Carnahan's Floor Service for many years, and later was employed at Tile Supply Co. until his retirement.

He was born in Hamilton county (IL) March 25, 1912, the son of Dillard H. and Gertrude A. (Higginson) Carnahan.

On July 4, 1931, in Benton, he married Thelma J. Odle, who survives.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hughey Funeral Home with Larry Farthing and Rod Farthing officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In addition to his wife survivors include four sons, three daughters, 23 grand children, 12 great grandchildren, one brother, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carnahan was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Okinawa.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church of West Frankfort and was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Dorothy.
