Mrs. Sharon L. Carlton, 24, of Route 4, Mt. Vernon, died at 1:45 am today at Good Samaritan Hospital. 36 hours after giving birth to a child.

Her son, Douglas Eugene, who was born at 1:00 pm Tuesday, was reported as getting along fine this morning at the hospital.

Graveside services for Mrs. Carlton will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday in Hopewell Cemetery, with the Rev. Clarence Coats officiating. The body will lie in state at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4:00 pm Friday.

Mrs. Carlton was born June 27, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Edgar L. and Edna (Brown) Keef.

On November 5, 1966 she was married, in Mt. Vernon, to Robert Carlton, who survives.

Mrs. Carlton was a member of the Camp Ground Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Brian Wayne and infant Douglas Eugene, both at home; her parents Edgar and Edna Keef of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Robert Leroy Keef of Aurora, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Smith of Belleville, and Mrs. Ruth Shelton, Mrs. Karen Jean Howell and Mrs. Helen Pearl, all of Mt. Vernon; and her grandparents, Andrew E. Keef and Mrs. Jessie Pearl Keef, both of Mt. Vernon.
