Robert J. Carlton Sr.

Robert J. Carlton, 64, 1209 S. 25th St., died at 3:10 am today in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion. He was employed as a car shop worker in Chicago until his health failed.

Mr. Carlton was born in Wayne County July 28, 1918, the son of Charles E. and Grace (Gullett) Carlton.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at Hopewell Cemetery with the Rev. James McElhaney officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 141. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Friends may call after 6 pm Wednesday at the Hughey Funeral Home.

Survivors include one son, Robert J. Carlton Jr. of Texico; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Janice) Boldrey of Mt. Vernon and Roberta Smith of Aurora; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, John Carlton of Mt. Vernon, and his former wife, Melba Lamczyk of Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Carlton was a Pentecostalist, a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post No. 141.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and a grandson.
