Minnie (Mabry) Butler

Ex-Resident of Wayne City Dies (Special to The Register-News)

WAYNE CITY, Ill., May 10 -
Mrs. Minnie Butler, 92, a former resident of Wayne City, died Monday at 11 p.m. at a nursing home in Vandalia, Ill.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian church in Wayne City. The Rev. John Samford will officiate and burial will be in Thomason cemetery.

The body will remain at Combs Chapel in Wayne City.

Mrs. Butler had been residing at the Wilmington, Ill., home for soldiers and widows of soldiers. She suffered a hip fracture in a fall last Easter Sunday and was taken to the Vandalia nursing home.

She was married to R.B. Butler, who preceded her in death in 1936.

She was a member of the Wayne City Christian church.

Surviving are two sons, Frank Butler of El Paso, Texas, and E.M. Butler of St. Elmo, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Peterson of Brownstown, Ill.; a foster-daughter, Mrs. Gladys Adams of St. Louis; and a foster-son, Ben E. Miller of Evansville, Wis.

Minnie was married to Robert B. Butler, a brother of my great grandfather Washington W. Butler. I have photos of her and her family if anyone wants to contact me for copies. She was the daughter of Erastus Walker Mabry and Sarah Ann Organ.
