Claude Lee Butler

Claude Butler of Bluford Dies; Rites Tomorrow

Claude Lee Butler, 54, of Bluford, died at 11:05 a.m. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a carman for the Illinois Central Railroad.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Bluford Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roy Beal and the Rev. L.C. Irby officiating. Burial will be in East Hickory Hill cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Bluford Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4:00 today.

He was born October 20, 1909, in Patoka, Ill., the son of C.L. and Mildred Lousettie (Harshbarger) Butler.

On December 24, 1934, he was married to Jewell Johnson, who survives.

Other survivors include his step-mother, Mrs. Josephine Butler of Bluford; one daughter, Mrs. Claudette Hurst of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Clyde Butler of Rochelle; one sister, Mrs. C.O. Lowery of Centralia and three grandchildren.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bluford.
