Henry A. Bumpus Dies at Age 81

Henry Asbury Bumpus, of RFD 7, Mt. Vernon, died at 10 o'clock last night at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital. A retired farmer, he was 81 years, nine months and ten days of age.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p. m. at the Second Baptist church, with the Rev. Dave Goddard and the Rev. Carl Whittington officiating, and burial will be in Bethel Memorial cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call at any time after 10 a. m. Sunday.

Mr. Bumpus was born April 24, 1867 in Jefferson county, the son of R. M. and Louisa (Page) Bumpus.

On April 24, 1898 he was married to Ora Harp, who survives.

He was a member of the Summersville Baptist church. Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Alonzo Bumpus of Mt. Vernon, and four sisters, Mrs. Laura Estes and Mrs. Delia Smith of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Mertio Halo of Abbyville, Kan, and Mrs. OIlie Melton of St. Pettersburg, Fla.
