William C. "Bud" "Wimpy" Brown

Graveside services for William C. "Bud" "Wimpy" Brown, 66, Route 6 McCauley Road, will be held at 3:30 pm today at the Hopewell Cemetery with the Rev. Buss Hart officiating. Those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery. There was no visitation at Mr. Brown's request. He died at 10:45 pm Sunday in Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was born Oct. 2, 1918, in East St. Louis, the son of William and Emma (Buford) Brown.

He first married Mildred Gossage and on Aug. 25, 1957, married Cleva Boldwyn, who preceded him in death March 15, 1978.

He was employed at the Dixie Feed Warehouse for several years and later worked as a security guard for Wells Fargo. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include four sons, Ralph "Butch", Billy, and Alvin Brown, all of Mt. Vernon, and David Brown of Ina; one stepson, Don Hayes of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Linda Dugger of Tamaroa, Lola Lyberger of Centralia, and Sandy Hunter of Walnut Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Edgar (Edna) Keef of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Bruce (Betty) Cope of Bluford, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank Brown, and one sister, Doris Hughey.
