Louis Carl Brown

Louis Carl Brown, 72, of Mt. Vernon died 1:11 a.m. July 10, 2002, at St. Mary’s/Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was a draftsman for Wagner Electric for 15 years and later was employed as a salesman for W.G. Motors for 30 years. He also served with the rural fire department for several years.

Mr. Brown was born March 25, 1930, in Jefferson County to John and Minnie (Cooper) Brown.

He first married Betty Ann Gregory.

He later married Kay A. Rumburg April 13, 1974, in Mt. Vernon; she survives.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lowery Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Merle Fullerton will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, David Brown and wife Sherry of Woodlawn, Vince Brown and wife Cheryl of Mt. Vernon and Steve Rumburg and wife Susan of Hereford, Ariz.; three daughters, Linda Brown of Mt. Vernon, Cindy Wright and husband Mark of Wildwood, Mo., and Jill Estwing and husband Chris of Marion; a sister, Betty Meador of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Marvin Meador.
