Mrs. Eliza L. Brook was born in Jefferson County, Illinois, October 13th, 1849. Fell asleep September 18, 1920.

She was united in marriage to James Dodson in Jan. 1865.

To this union ten children were born. Nine of which survive her; one dying in infancy. Mrs. Mary Yearwood, Mt. Vernon, Ill.; Mrs. Martha White, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. James R White, Mt. Vernon, Ill.; Mrs. Luella Watts, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Laura Daniels, Mt. Vernon, Ill.; Mrs. Emma Franks, St. Louis, Mo.; Frank, Marshall, Charles. All were present at the funeral.

She professed faith in Christ in the fall of 1888 and joined the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon and kept the faith until the end. Of late years owing to ill health and the infirmities of age she was unable to be a regular attendant. She was a woman of amiable disposition, always cheerful and looking on the bright side of life.

Mr. Dodson died Jan. 13th, 1888.

About eight years later she married Lee Brooks. He died February 20, 1909.

She leaves nine children, six grand-children, three great-grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her loss.
