Lester "Leck" Bradford

Lester "Leck" Bradford, 86, of Mt. Vernon died 4:30 p.m. Feb. 7, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Bradford was employed for several years at Ranmar Standard Tire Co. in Mt. Vernon and later at Precision National Corp. until his retirement.

He was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Mt. Vernon, a son of William Arthur and Anna Elizabeth (Woelfel) Bradford.

He married Norma Ruth Glover on Jan. 23, 1937, in Mt. Vernon; she survives.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home, with the Revs. Kenneth Holland and Jerry Brown officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, north of Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bradford is survived by three sons, Jimmie Lester Bradford and wife Sharon, Billy Ray Bradford, and Roy Dean Bradford and wife Glenda, all of Mt. Vernon; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Bradford, Jr. and wife Betty of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bradford had been a member of Old Union Missionary Baptist Church since 1951. He was a family man and loved all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and had a keen interest in what each one of them was doing in everyday life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Norman Richard Bradford; one daughter, Ruth Ann Lee; one sister, Ida Bradford; four brothers, Lawrence Bradford, Charles Bradford, Floyd Bradford and Loyd Bradford; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Old Union Missionary Baptist Church or Pleasant Grove Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home. Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of the services; you may call 242-3348 for abituary information at any time."
