Loretta (Parker) Braden

Loretta Parker Braden, 76, of Nason died 9:55 a.m. March 8, 2005, at her home. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Braden was born May 5, 1928, in Gallatin County to Henry and Emma (Morris) Parker.

She married Clayton Braden Nov. 13, 1954, in Ashley; he survives.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Ron Cremeens will officiate. Burial will follow at Ashley Cemetery in Ashley. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Braden is survived by her husband, Clayton Braden of Nason; a son, David Wayne Braden and wife Joni of Mt. Vernon; daughters Carol Sue Meadows and husband Jimmy of Boyd, Betty Shopinski and husband Rick of Nason, Dorothy Ann Durst and husband Larry of Chandler, Ind., and Petty Lynn Kirkpatrick and husband Rickie of Nason; sisters Norma Stonecipher of Nashville and Ruby Kane of Mt. Vernon; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Braden was a member of the Methodist faith.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral Home, where you may call 242-3348 for further information.
