Goldie M. Boyd

Goldie M. Boyd, 80, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 6:12 p.m. at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born on Monday, Nov. 1, 1926, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of John Nelson Rogers and Florence Ann (Robinson) Rogers.

She first married George Keele and he preceded her in death.

She later married Robert Boyd in Mt. Vernon on Oct. 19, 1956, and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1992.

She was a nurse assistant at Mt. Vernon Care Center.

Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cubb Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County with Rev. Rodney Mellott officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Goldie is survived by a daughter, Gwen Loker and husband Gene of Mt. Vernon; a stepson, Robert E. Boyd of Blaxton, Miss.; a daughter-in-law, Gail Keele of West Frankfort; 14 grandchildren, Shawn Allen Keele, Twila Dawn Westlake and husband Blake, Candace Kissel and husband Matt, Tim Keele and wife Crystal, John Keele and wife Katie, Dustin Keele, Brian Dale Loker, Matthew Ryan Loker, Donnie Bullette and wife Crystal, Pete Bullette and wife Amy, Craig Boyd; six great grandchildren, Curtis Lane Westlake, Zebulan Cade Westlake, Shaylee Ann Westlake, Hannah Bullette, Luke Bullette and Ian Bullette; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Green Rogers of Effingham, and Pat Rogers of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents, husband, three sons, Charles Ray Keele, Roger Dwain Keele and Rick Keele, one stepson, Everett Lee Boyd, two brothers, Leonard Leslie Rogers and Nelson Ray Rogers, one sister, Verna Dean Howard, and one granddaughter, Katie Keele, preceded her in death.

Goldie was Mt. Vernon Care Center Employee of the Year in 1984, was active in WWJD Children’s Missions and the Senior Circle and attended Second General Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
