James Boyd Bowdler, 36, an employee of the Truss Pipe Co., Springfield, and a long time resident of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday afternoon at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at the Hughey- Pulley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ernie Tate officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 pm Saturday.

Mr. Bowdler was born in Cumberland, Ky., on Aug. 3, 1934, the son of John Henry and Elma (Riddle) Bowdler. He was graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in the class of 1953.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Elma Bowdler, Mt. Vernon; three sons, James Arthur, Jeff Boyd and Timothy John; three daughters, Barbara Ann, Susan Elma and Teresa Fay; four brothers, Sidney Bowdler, Mt. Vernon. Kenneth Bowdler, Mt. Vernon, Jerry Wayne Bowdler, Mt. Vernon, and Rickey G. Bowdler, Mt. Vernon; and one sister, Mrs. Betty Winkler, Mt. Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Bowdler.
